Behind the Scenes

Why sound design decides whether your video feels professional

Viewers forgive an imperfect shot far more easily than they forgive bad audio. Here's why sound design gets equal billing with picture on every project we deliver.

Studio microphone set up for recording

Watch any video with the sound muted and it can still look decent. Play a video with clean picture but poor audio, and it feels amateur within seconds. Sound is doing more work than most people realise.

On every shoot, we record clean production audio as a non-negotiable — proper microphone placement, monitored levels, and a quiet set whenever the scene allows it. Fixing bad audio in post costs far more time than preventing it on the day.

In post-production, sound design is its own craft: dialogue editing, ambient layering, music selection and a final mix that balances everything so nothing fights for attention. A commercial, a documentary and a music video all need this — just in different proportions.

The projects that feel the most 'cinematic' to an audience are rarely the ones with the biggest camera budget. They're usually the ones where sound and picture were treated as equally important from day one.

It's a detail most viewers can't name, but they always feel it — which is exactly why we never treat it as an afterthought.
